When Ocean Beach Park is at full capacity, here is a list of other great things to do while you’re in New London:

For beautiful waterfront parks, check out Green Harbor Beach and Fort Trumbull State Park.  You’re also invited to visit Downtown New London’s historic waterfront district featuring our famous boardwalk and majestic piers.  The Water Taxi at City Pier is available to take you and your family on an enjoyable and educational water experience.  Mystic Whaler Cruises offers day sails and lobster dinner cruises.  New London features several historic sites for your family to explore.

For great outdoor dining on the Thames River, visit On the Waterfront.  Check out their gorgeous new sun deck!  For more casual fare, visit Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock or Fred’s Shanty.  There are also many restaurants to choose from in downtown New London.  Several have decks overlooking the water:  Hot Rod Café, Mambo Bar & Restaurant, Muddy Waters Café, and Noble.  New London’s choices for cuisine are as diverse as they are delicious:  Tony D’s (Italian), Noodles and Rice Bistro (Thai), The Green Room (American), Swan Tandoori (Indian) Mi Casa (Mexican), and Right Path Organic Café (Organic).

There is so much to discover about our great city.  Our boutique shops and beautiful gift stores await your visit:  Flavours of Life, Thames River Greenery, and Studio 33, to name a few.  Other hidden gems in New London include the Hygienic Art and Fosnot galleries.  Plus our historic museums including the Custom House Maritime Museum, Lyman Allyn Art Museum, and Monte Cristo Cottage, the boyhood home of famed American Playwright, Eugene O’Neill.
